This page contains all the necessary administrative information to get you ready for the first week of class. Each week will essentially follow this sequence:

• Read the weekly announcement on Piazza.
• Check the INFO490 website (the site you're on) for the week's assignments.
• Have fun working on the lessons.

Account Setup


1. Moodle Access

Be sure you view the course Moodle (learn.illinois.edu).

  • The Moodle is used to administer quizzes and the keeper of the grade book

2. Google access via @illinois.edu

Set up your google account such that you can login using your @illinois.edu address.

  • Read the instructions if you haven't done this before
  • You can test this by making sure you first log off of google.
  • You must use the chrome browser
  • We will use google's version of Jupyter notebooks.
  • You will need to access Google's Colab notebooks via your @illinois.edu address.
  • We will also share folders on google drive (using your @illinois.edu address) that will contain lessons as well.

3. Piazza Account

Piazza will be used for almost all communication. It's also the official place to ask questions.

  • Post a reply to the hello message, and let us know what kind of research /techniques you might want to use or learn about in your project (don't worry, you can change your mind)

4. Gradescope Account

Gradescope is used to officially grade all programming lessons and projects.

  • Join gradescope.com using the registration code below
  • You MUST use your @illinois.edu address
  • use the two (T.B.D.) registration/access code (two classrooms)
